My friend Brad once said “I’ve always believed that the sooner your kids are embarrassed by you, the better. You’ll both be used to it by the teen years.”
I think singing along and dancing is the easiest way.
The photo above was taken mid-song. Me belting out the Beatles “Birthday” on the way to Splash Lagoon to celebrate her 4th birthday. I didn’t notice her face until I looked at the pic.
I know it’s a combo of shyness and embarrassment and a little hint of pride. I don’t really TRY and embarrass Julia. It just kinda happens. Deep down she likes when I goof around, but I think combining it with video was a bit much for her.
This is not the last of the embarrassment videos, I’m sure. I just might make it a segment.

One of the funniest (and funnest) dads I know! Love reading this blog…making mental notes for when I have my own children someday. Keep up the great posts :)

It comes naturally. No worries.

It’s a face I’ve grown to know a little too well since she discovered embarrassment.

My mother’s dancing used to embarrass me so much. It’s so fun to be on the other side now.

I love this and so will my husband! Our 2 year old always makes the same face where she’s serious and trying really hard not to smile. It’s so cute!

Thanks Clarissa. She’s now graduated to more sophisticated manipulation. Like, “Dad, I already KNOW you’ll say NO, but can I…?”

Make sure to activate as many of those noise toys as you can while (Christmas) shopping with the kids!!!…If they are not running away from you as fast as they can, then you have not activated enough toys.
