Break a Leg

It’s been a while, huh?

My better half in this blog (Pete) has been picking up my slack, while my better half at home (Star) is recovering from a pretty serious broken leg.

The kind of broken leg that requires Terminator-like rods, cables, screws and pins to fix. Along with six months to a year to recover. And walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs…grab bars.

Yeah, there’s two cables, a titanium rod, about 4 screws.

So, I was at the hospital, waiting for Star to come out of surgery, and I’m watching the doctors (surgeons) walking in and out of the doors leading to the operating rooms. I notice one doctor walk out with a cordless drill/screwgun. He smiled at me as I must have had one of those what-the-heck-are-you-doing-with-that looks on my face.

Nah… I’m thinking. That’s NOT the drill they are using to put some hardware into my wife’s leg.

Oh yes they did. Well I think they did. It was green and black, maybe a Hitatchi or something.

Yeah, the drill looked just like this.

The surgeon came into meet me and I was honestly so worried about Star’s condition that I forgot to ask him if he actually used THAT drill on her.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to walk into a home improvement center and ask the guy…

“yeah, the 24 position clutch is nice, but how do you think it will do on human bone?”

Anyway, I’m trying to play catch up on here, I’ve got a lot of content, but just trying to find the time to write. I’ve taken a leave of absence from the day job to be SAHD for a while. So instead of making ads, I’m making 3 meals a day, trying to take back our house from an 8 year-old, 3-year-old twins and 20-month-old toddler all while doing my best to prevent any more injuries.

Way to go! I’ve been pulling SAHD duty for about 9 weeks now and I gotta say, I have more respect for my wife than I did before it started. And we’ve only got a 21 month old toddler to worry about!

    Hang in there!
